Maybe

Maybe we will wake up
Wake up from this tomorrow
And realize it was all
Just a bad dream
We collectively shared,
Or maybe we will reason
That it needed to happen
To correct some wrongs.

I tell myself that
Everything happens
For a purpose, so of course
I am assuming there is
A purpose for this too.

If it doesn't grind me down,
It will only make me stronger.
I have learned to take what comes
And make the most of it,
So maybe these hard times
Are meant to make me
Think a little more
And try a little harder.

Someone once said
"There is nothing
So constant as change!"
And I see that as true,
So maybe I need to
Change as well.

Maybe if I close my eyes,
It will all go away,
But then maybe not.
How long should I
Close my eyes then?

Maybe this is another
Learning experience,
And if so, then what
Will the lesson be?

Maybe there are
Opportunities in this,
Ones I can't now see.
Maybe this will open
A whole new realm
Of possibilities
I never considered.

Maybe it is good,
And maybe it is not.
Only time will tell,
Or maybe it is up to me
To make of it
What I might.

Throwing Money at the Problem

It seems a chronic problem with our politicians that they somehow think throwing money at a problem will make it go away, and usually in hindsight, we discover that most of the money ends up being wasted. That is what I am afraid will happen with the economic stimulus package now being touted.

We hear stories about banks that just received the bail out funding staging lavish parties and giving their executive officers fat bonuses. Bonuses for what, you might ask? For losing billions of dollars?

The unemployment numbers keep progressively rising. Aren't there things that need being done around the country, and around the world, that we have put off doing for far to long of a time? I guess what I am envisioning is a opportunity for millions of people to do things for the good of this country for the money they are given. Is that such a radical idea? It certainly worked before.

Let me know your ideas.

Imagine

Imagine if you could have a personal chat with President Obama regarding the current world economic crisis, what would you tell him? Perhaps from your perspective, you can see a possibility nobody in power seems to envision. What ideas do you have about how this situation might be solved?

Bare in mind that it is a world wide crisis, that what is happening in the United States is only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. When the US shutters, or shivers, the rest of the world still shakes. Certainly we alone can't solve the problem.

Is this something we can just leave up to the politicians? Somehow, I don't think so, but I bet some of you have some ideas worth sharing.
